And, not unlike a fungus, he's beginning to grow on me.

He's less annoying in this piece and more pitifully pathetic.  If you
keep going with this I think he might become an intriguing character.
Although, I'm not sure people would read past the annoying parts, so
there's a risk.

But, maybe they won't have to.  If later stories stand on their own.

Line edits:  2.6, You voice => Your voice; 4.1, the don't talk about
that => they don't talk about that.

Thanks for keeping at this.  It's inspiring, even if the inspiration
hasn't transmogrified into actual prose on the page.
