Metaphor is theatre wherein one idea plays another.

Metaphor is a canvas whereon the brush daubs ideas to evoke the portrait 
of another.

Metaphor is a page whereunto the ink of one idea is applied to write the 
poetry of another.

Metaphor is a zoetrope wherethrough ideas glimpsed may bring to life 
another.

Metaphor is a plectrum wherewith we pluck the strings of one idea to set 
in motion the melody of another.

Metaphor is a garden wherefrom we scent the blossom of one idea to bring 
to mind the stamens, pistils, calyx and perianth of another.

Metaphor is a Las Vegas chorus line whereupon I have no idea what it has 
to do with a metaphor.
